Hi,

I used WeTab-OS and Win 7 for a while now with plop to dualboot.
But since i got the ExoPC bios on it, i have no real need for plop anymore.
I can boot from other media easily..
So, removed plop from WeTab's extlinux.conf (the plpbt.img i had no idea how to remove), and from Win 7.
At that point, it only booted to Win 7 of course..
Tried EasyBCD, using the NeoGrub option and adding:
timeout 0
default 0
title WeTab-OS
root (hd0,0)
chainloader +1

This works rather well, but is there a better option?
EasyBCD 2.1 beta has a extlinux option, but that gives me a "Boot error" when chosen at boot..
But in theory, that would be better than using some form of Grub, right?
Any idea how to get it to work as intended, as cleanly as possible? (Not a whole lot of unneeded things as the Plop option)

Thanks,

Allegro.

I know this is a really old topic, but did anyone really manage to get EASY BCD working with Win7 & Wetab OS dual boot..I saw another topic in German but that did not seem to get anywhere except criticism for someone asking the question and asking him to use plop.

The reason I want to use Easy BCD is because I am already using Neo Grub to boot android RC1 for the Tega V2.

My Install is as follows:

/dev/sda1--> 22.1 GB--NTFS--> Win 7 (hd0.0)
/dev/sda2-->203 MB-->EXT3-->WeTab Boot (hd0,1)
/dev/sda3-->2 GB----->Linux Swap (hd0,2)
/dev/sda4-->5.5GB---->EXT3 (hd0,3)

I have tried the following. (I removed the android entry.)

timeout 0
default 0
title WeTab OS
root (hd0,1)
chainloader +1

WeTab splash image flashes briefly and then nothing.

I then used EXT Volume manager and edited extlinux/extlinux.conf from:
append ro root=/dev/sda3 quiet vga=current quiet

to

append ro root=/dev/sda4 quiet vga=current quiet

Now the WeTab splash screen flashes twice and then nothing.

Any ideas I can try would be most welcome.. Thanks in advance.

You need a bootable usb-stick with the bios on it.

There are images of bios-sticks in the download-section of this community.

Latest bios-version is known as "W8-Pad Bios".

A good place to read is this one: http://www.wetab-com.../page-1?hl=bios

I got the bios file in download section, but It is very hard to understand all the post in deustch language, to get the info how to update the bios.

I have enough experience upgrading bios pc to know how soft must be this operation.

Please, could You tell me which software tool for doing the bios update must be employed.

Thats not so easy to do and describe.

And a lot of links named in this thread http://www.wetab-com.../page-1?hl=bios are dead now.

A short description would be:

The flash-utility for the AMI-Bios of the board is a small MS-DOS-based program, which flashes the .ROM file to the board.

So you will need a USB-stick, 1GB will be big enough.

A tool to format the stick bootable like HPUSBFW.

A small DOS-Version to make the stick boot into DOS.

The tool USB-MagicBytes-writer to make the stick bootable from the old WeTab-Bios.

The AMI-flash utility

The BIOS-ROM.

Or, if you find a download-link: an USB-image (*.IMG) containing all of the above mentioned, ready to be written to a USB-stick with a tool like "win32diskImager.exe".

I did not find any downloadlink to an image, maybe someone can place a link?

Hi frankie0815,

Or, if you find a download-link: an USB-image (*.IMG) containing all of the above mentioned, ready to be written to a USB-stick with a tool like "win32diskImager.exe".

I did not find any downloadlink to an image, maybe someone can place a link?

Maybe the "BiosStick.zip" on my Community Mirror contains the type of image you have been searching for?
See: https://42.loonquawl...nity_downloads/

In case you find any useful files regarding the BIOS update, you can just PM me and I'll add those files to my download mirror.
